I searched it a while and found some articles regarding Xperia Mini X10 also on XDA but I couldn t understand them easily. So I want help from you geeks who can give.

It is with great sadness that we have to bring you the news that this will be the last post on this website. Sony Ericsson has filed a formal complaint about the use of the trademarked Xperia name in our domain name and have requested that the domain names, including that of XperiaBlog.net, be transferred to them.

Sony Ericsson is alleging that we have used the domain names in bad faith. We are stunned and disappointed that Sony Ericsson, a company that we have spent much of our free personal time in promoting, especially the Xperia brand, has decided to take this formal action against us. After all we are just like you, passionate Sony Ericsson users, who have strived to bring the community breaking news and an independent viewpoint.

We do not have the resources to fight Sony Ericsson on this and therefore this is the last you will hear from us. Sony Ericsson has made great strides in its Xperia portfolio, especially in listening to the community. This makes it all the more confusing as to why Sony Ericsson would want to shut us down. We genuinely believe that 2012 could be a bumper year for the company, we just wish we could have been there along for the ride.

All the best.

The UK s Advertising Standards Authority ASA has upheld a complaint regarding the standby battery life of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X8. The website product page for the Xperia X8 claims that the handset has a standby battery time of 446 hours.

The person who made the complaint felt this claim was a bit fishy, despite the companies disclaimer that battery performance may vary depending on network conditions and configuration, and phone usage. The complainant said that numbers should represent some idea of real-life usage. Read more

As we were expecting, CyanogenMod 7.1 has been released supporting a number of Sony Ericsson Xperia devices. So far all of the 2011 Xperia range is supported, but only the Xperia X8 from the 2010 range. Don t worry though as head honcho Steve Kondik has confirmed that the Xperia X10 version will be coming in a few days.

The main delay is that it is missing installation documentation. We imagine the X10 mini family will get the update at the same time. This is great news and is testament to all of the hard work put in by the FreeXperia team and of course Sony Ericsson s assistance in providing hardware and driver assistance. We ll report back when the Xperia X10 CyanogenMod update is available to download. Read more

Sony Ericsson released an Xperia X10 support video earlier this week to give some tips to extend battery performance. The timing of the video is somewhat curious, being released 18 months into the phone s cycle. Most people reading this will already know about most of the tips and we covered much of this and more in an article back in April 2010. Most of what was said then is still relevant now. See the video after the break or click here for our own tips on extending battery performance. Read more

Wow, this is some stunning news. Karl-Johan Dahlström, Head of Developer Relations at Sony Ericsson, has just posted a very interesting post over on the SE Developer Blog. He has just confirmed that Sony Ericsson has been assisting the FreeXperia developer team, beyond what we ve seen from most other manufacturers.

If you ve been following us for a while now you ll know that the FreeXperia team over at xda-developers have been providing custom ROMs for the Xperia X10 initially and branched out to all other Xperia phones. One of the problems that has always been difficult to solve is the proprietary work that Sony Ericsson has undertaken on the camera side of things. Read more

Sony Ericsson has started to release the Android 2.3.4 update for its 2011 range of Xperia handsets. If you want to know exactly what this includes, we did a comprehensive feature roundup here. As Xperia X10 owners are unlikely to see any more updates past Android 2.3.3, people have been trying to port the new features, apps and widgets over to the X10.

Thankfully most work quite easily on a stock Xperia X10 running Android 2.3.3. We already provided the new Power Save app and Timer Clock widgets that all work on the X10. However, if you want a more complete Android 2.3.4 experience, then check out this xda thread. Files are provided which includes support for Facebook inside Xperia 2.0, the new music player with extensions, home launcher and keyboard including swipe text input. There s certainly enough there to keep stock Xperia X10 owners happy for a while.

Steve Kondik, CyanogenMod s chief developer, has officially confirmed that CyanogenMod 7 CM7 will be supporting all of the currently released Xperia smartphones in an upcoming release. This includes support for all of the 2010 and 2011 Xperia devices.

CyanogenMod has been working with the FreeXperia team to make this happen and Kondik confirmed that FreeXperia is now part of the CM development group. This is great news and gives our Xperia phones support from one of the most recognised Android developer groups. This will finally be a great reason to get those bootloaders unlocked. Wolfbreak from xda-developers has released a new custom ROM for the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 that has been geared to the gamers out there. The Gaming ROM, which is based on the latest V6 Custom ROM, has sacrificed all of the memory hungry applications to ensure there is as little as lag as possible in games.

Therefore the ROM only includes the bare minimum of apps such as the ARC Launcher, Camera, Music, Gallery, Dialler and Market. However, Wolfbreak has left out Timescape, Alarm, Bravia Engine, xLoud, Gmail, Email and the Calendar apps. This results in 195MB of RAM free for all of your gaming needs. If you re a gamer and want to give this a try click here.

Back in July, we reported that the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 had seen its bootloader unlocked or at least bypassed. Since then, there s been very little news whilst the devs have been beavering away to get a solution for us to use on our own phones.

Well that milestone has now come as the_laser from xda-developers has just released the toolset to permanently unlock the bootloader of the Xperia X10. To get this up and running click here, but be aware it only runs on Android 2.1 for now.

Thanks Sharath.

It has been just over a month since Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread started rolling out on the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10. We still get many questions asking us how to root the handset so we thought we d knock together this quick guide that should cover the process in step-by-step detail.

We ve adopted this method from xda-developer masterminds aZuZu and DooMLoRD. It also uses the FlashTool created by Bin4ry Androxyde. Read the instructions in full carefully before applying each process. You need to be on stock Android 2.3.3 for this method to work. Read more

For those of you that may have bought your Sony Ericsson Xperia smartphone locked to a network and are looking to free your phone, then you may want to check out a new website dedicated to permanently unlocking your handset. XperiaUnlocked.com recently launched allowing you to unlock most of the 2010 range of Xperia smartphones for 49 support for the newer models are expected in due course.

The process is simple enough and involves you installing some software onto your PC through which the unlocking process is carried out. Detailed step-by-step instructions are provided on the website that should allow even the most novice user to follow easily. Once the software is installed, the entire unlocking process should take no longer than 10 minutes. Read more
